At the heart of Emma’s work as a conductor and teacher is a strong belief in learning as a communal practice. In addition to equipping students with the hard skills they need to thrive, she believes that, above all else, it is the role of an educator to facilitate an environment in which all participants are encouraged and inspired to give equal attention to the things they both know and do not know – to gain confidence in their own voice as it exists in meaningful dialogue with all the other voices in the room (and outside the room, too).

Emma graduated from Yale in 2017 with a BA in Music and a Certificate in Education Studies. She then received a Masters in Music Education from the University of Hartford’s The Hartt School, with FAME and Kodàly certification.
